L'Atelier Paris Range Repair

L'Atelier Paris Haute Design builds custom ranges and kitchen suites to order in France. We are a factory-authorized service provider for these units across the Bay Area and Greater Sacramento.

What We Diagnose

Bespoke ranges are built individually, so service starts with identifying what was actually specified for your unit rather than assuming a standard configuration.

Burner will not light or holds a weak flame

Brass burner assemblies on French ranges are serviceable rather than disposable, and most ignition complaints resolve at the electrode, the burner cap seating, or the injector rather than the valve. Blocked injectors are the common finding on units in hard-water or high-dust environments.

Oven not holding temperature

Bespoke ovens vary in element layout, and the thermostat or probe position differs between builds. We measure across the cavity rather than trusting the display, then verify against the specification for your particular unit.

Door sag or a seal that no longer closes

Heavy brass and steel doors put real load on their hinges. Once the door sits proud the oven runs long and cooks unevenly. Hinges and springs are serviceable parts on these ranges.

Simmer plate or plancha not heating evenly

Solid-top and plancha surfaces are heated differently from open burners, and uneven heat usually points at a control or element specific to that section rather than the range as a whole.

Finish, trim, or hardware damage

Brass, copper, and custom lacquered finishes are part of what these ranges are, and they need handling that a standard appliance does not. We work to preserve the finish rather than treating it as a painted panel.

Installation-related faults

Custom ranges are fitted into cabinetry built around them. Units that have never performed correctly since installation frequently have a ventilation, gas supply, or levelling issue rather than a component failure.

Brands We Service

Factory authorized

In-warranty and out-of-warranty, with manufacturer parts accounts and current service documentation.

  • L'Atelier Paris — Haute Design custom ranges and kitchen suites
  • La Cornue — CornuFé and Château ranges
  • ILVE — Majestic and Nostalgie ranges
  • AGA / Rangemaster — Cast-iron and professional ranges
  • Viking — Professional ranges and rangetops
  • Miele — Wall ovens, steam and speed ovens

Out of warranty only

We repair these units, but warranty claims go through the manufacturer's own network.

  • Wolf — Gas and dual-fuel ranges
  • Thermador — Professional ranges
  • Dacor — Ranges and wall ovens
Parts for bespoke ranges are ordered against your specific build. Serial number and, where available, the original order documentation determine which components fit — two visually identical ranges from the same maker can differ internally. Have the serial number ready when you call and it will save a visit.

How the Repair Works

Custom French ranges are built to last decades and designed to be serviced rather than replaced. Burners, valves, elements, hinges, and controls are individually available, which means a fault that would total a mass-market appliance is routine maintenance here.

Gas work on these units gets the same treatment as any gas appliance: leak testing and combustion verification after every repair that touches the gas train. On high-output professional burners this matters more, not less, because the volumes involved are larger.

Where a repair touches a finished surface we discuss it before starting. Brass and lacquered components can be restored, but the approach differs from ordinary appliance work and the wrong product on the wrong finish is not reversible.

Common Questions

Do you service ranges bought before you were authorized?

Yes. Factory authorization determines who handles warranty claims, not who can perform the repair. We service these ranges in and out of warranty with OEM parts.

How long do parts take to arrive?

Common service items are available domestically. Build-specific components are ordered against your serial number and can take longer, since some are made to order in France. We tell you the lead time before you commit.

Is L'Atelier Paris the same as L'Atelier du Vin?

No, and the names cause regular confusion. L'Atelier Paris Haute Design builds custom ranges and kitchen suites. L'Atelier du Vin is a separate French company producing wine accessories and storage.

Can you match or restore brass and copper trim?

We handle finish work appropriate to these ranges and will tell you honestly where restoration is beyond what a service visit can do and needs a specialist instead.

Do you work on the whole kitchen suite or only the range?

The suite, where the components are ones we service — ranges, ovens, rangetops, and integrated elements. Plumbing and cabinetry fall outside what we take on.
