Outdoor appliances live with weather, salt air and long idle periods, and they run at heat outputs no indoor burner reaches. That combination drives a different failure profile: corrosion, ignition and gas delivery dominate.
What the appliance is made of
These are the subsystems a diagnosis works through. Which one is at fault is determined by measurement on site, not by the symptom alone.
Grill burners and ignition
Tube or infrared burners, electrode ignition or hot-surface igniters, valves, orifices and regulators. Natural gas and propane use different orifices — conversion errors show up as poor flame.
Rotisserie and side burners
Separate burners and motors with their own supply and controls.
Pizza ovens
Higher-temperature burners with dedicated controls and insulation.
Outdoor refrigeration
Undercounter refrigerators, ice makers and beverage centers rated for ambient swings that would put an indoor unit out of spec.
Weather and corrosion
Stainless grades differ by component. Coastal installations corrode on a different schedule than inland ones.

Outdoor gas work follows the same procedures as indoor, with the added variable of an installation that has been rained on and left unused for months.
Before you call
Have the model and serial number from the rating plate ready, and note when the problem started, whether it is constant or intermittent, and any code on the display. That determines which parts are carried to the visit. Appointments run in a two-hour arrival window and an adult 18 or older needs to be present for the full window.
